NOT JUST ANY BODY & SOUL – FACING THE CHALLENGE
will take place in The Hague, during the Holland Dance Festival. Taking a look into the past and future will set the tone on the first day. The second and third day are reserved for workshops and plenary discussions, distributed over four thematic rounds. For each theme there is a choice of five workshops, linked to the lines of approach Career in Dance, Dance Culture, Education, Management and Practical Training.

10.30 - Workshop Round 1: Your Body, Your Soul, Your Instrument.
The body and the soul are the dancer’s instruments. The more dancers understand themselves, the greater their self-esteem will be. A greater awareness of the common sense notions about the dance profession, a better understanding of the mind, a supportive working environment, an anatomically sound dance technique and a sense of own responsibilities will enable the dancer to flourish as a professional and as an artist.

13.30 - Workshop Round 2: Life Long Learning
Learning is daily practice for dancers and continues forever. It requires a flexible attitude that is directed at change and improvement of existing situations. This round of workshops is about broadening one’s horizon, working in a multidisciplinary way, variety in dance training, health and safety plans and effective mental preparation.

10.30 - Workshop Round 3: Extremes - Paradoxes
Lifestyle management, training plans and coping strategies will help deal with complex and contradictory situations such as: support versus competition, criticism versus feedback, the interests of the individual versus the company.
13.30 - Workshop Round 4: Creating the Optimum Environment
An optimum working environment - in all its forms - is beneficial to performing and the interests of the different parties involved. In these workshops attention will be paid to dealing with careers, ethics in dance, the workload and overload of the dance teacher, human resource management and introduces a different approach to effortless jumping.
