B. DANCE CULTURE // The beliefs we work with

In every occupation there are unwritten rules: sets of beliefs and common-sense notions that are particular for the profession. Dance is no exception. Young dancers are taught these rules and professional dancers embody them. But some of the common-sense notions may not be so wise and some of the rules may not be so healthy. In this seminar some of the beliefs about the body that are common in the occupational culture of dance will be traced and scrutinized in their consequences for the dancer's body and soul.

- The working of the mind is crucial to physical performance simply because without a mind there would be no performance. Understanding the mechanics of the relationship between the body and the mind will enable dancers to develop the type of mindset necessary for achieving their full potential, meeting their goals and realizing their dreams.

E. PRACTICAL TRAINING // Anatomically-sound Dance Technique

A practical session that will apply anatomical knowledge to improve technique and reduce injuries. The workshop will address postural alignment and muscular support for efficient movement, including core stability and centering. The session will include both anatomical lectures and kinesthetic explorations. Wear clothes that permit movement.
